Speech therapy
Speech therapy helps your child talk, understand, and eat. Our speech-language pathologists work with children who have challenges related to autism, ADHD, or auditory processing disorders (trouble making sense of sounds).
They help with apraxia, which makes it hard to plan the mouth movements for speech. They help children who find it hard to understand words or to use them. They also help with oral motor and feeding disorders, which make it hard to move the lips, tongue, and jaw to eat or speak.
Every speech-language pathologist on our team is New York State licensed and has the highest credentials in the field.
What does an assessment include?
An assessment looks at your child's oral motor function, ability to make speech sounds, language processing, understanding, and ability to express themselves.
Our speech-language pathologists use an individualized approach. It can include PROMPT, behavioral interventions, and sensory, oral motor, or other approaches. The choice depends on your child's history, current preferences, and what the assessment shows.
